Stained Glass conservation at the Crooked Spire

MDS carried out the full conservation of The Transfiguration Window in the south transept of Chesterfield Parish Church during a three month period earlier this year. It was a huge project and involved removing each individual stained glass section, dismantling, conserving and re-leading. The 1874 window comprises 5 main lights and 26 individual tracery lights. To give an idea of scale, each main light was 16 feet high x 2 feet wide. The window is now back in place and can be seen at the church, which is open daily.

Date: June 2011
